Stage 23, the first LEED certified sound stage, has been featured on CNN and in a number of other media outlets. It is challenging to certify a soundstage because it has, by definition, no bathrooms, no landscaping, no daylight and no views, and therefore fewer potential LEED credits. It also has unique technical requirements including acoustical isolation from outside noise, and most tenants are short term. Stage 23 scored high on energy efficiency, helped by a solar electric (photovoltaic) system. It also included over 20% recycled content and regional materials, and low emitting materials. A comprehensive education program helps tenants understand and take advantage of the green features.
