City of Los Angeles: Silver Lake Branch Library
LEED-NC 2.2 Platinum

The Silver Lake Branch Library, designed by M2A Architects, is the last of 29 libraries constructed under the City of Los Angeles bond program. While all are LEED certified, Silver Lake, the last library to be built, is only the second to earn LEED Platinum. Its LEED score benefited from its urban location, energy efficiency, photovoltaic (solar electric) system, and interior and exterior water efficiency. The library also features daylight, views, low emitting materials and recycled demolition and construction waste. An educational program helps visitors understand the library’s green building elements.
