Metropolitan Water District/Water + Life Museums
LEED-NC 2.1 Platinum

ZC managed the LEED strategy and certification of the Metropolitan Water District’s Water Life Museums, the first LEED Platinum Museum. Designed and constructed by Lehrer + Gangi Design Build and located in Hemet, CA, the Museum consists of two separate facilities in one master planned project: the Center for Water Education and the Western Center for Archaeology and Paleontology. The LEED-NC 2.1 project earned 53 of 69 possible points.

Key strategies included the recycling of 95% of all construction waste; an energy efficient design combined with a large photovoltaic solar electric system; the use of reclaimed water for landscape irrigation; daylight; and views. It earned a Southern California Edison Savings By Design energy efficiency incentive payment.
